what is evidence based birth?
Good News Doulas incorporates Evidence-Based birth practices, which utilizes the most current medical evidence to help you make informed decisions about your birth experience.
-
EBB believes that medical procedures should be supported by facts and statistics, and that people should be aware of the risks and benefits of different healthcare choices.
The six main practices of Evidence-based birth are:
Avoiding medically unnecessary induction of labor
Allowing freedom of movement for the laboring woman
Continuous labor support
Avoiding routine interventions and restrictions
Encouraging spontaneous pushing in non-supine positions
Keeping mothers and babies together after birth without restrictions on breastfeeding
-
Based on current research, evidence-based birth practices have demonstrated a consistent level of reliability in providing optimal care for pregnant women. By incorporating the latest scientific evidence into the decision-making process, healthcare providers can offer more personalized and effective care that aligns with the best available research. This approach helps ensure that expectant families receive the most up-to-date and clinically proven interventions, ultimately leading to better outcomes for both mother and baby.
